![]() Supercrud This highly modified Aurora barn kit features a supercrud roof. The roof began as a pair of thin styrene sheets. I lightly scored them vertically every few feet with a sharp knife. I also ran some score lines here and there horizontally between the vertical lines. Then I carefully positioned a piece of thin solenoid wire along each vertical score line and secured it with CA. Finally, I spray-mounted a piece of aluminum foil to the styrene sheets (shiny side down), and firmly pressed it into the areas around the wires to create a classic sheet metal roof. After trimming the foil and wires, I attached the roof to the building and gave it several doses of supercrud treatment. The Mail Pouch billboard, by the way, was made by printing the design on paper and hand-cutting stencils out of the prints; then I attached the stencils to the wall and spray-painted the three colors on the building side in sequence. Powdered chalk created the streaking of aged paint. The barn can now be found on the Sceniced and Undecided. Image specs: This image was captured with a Canon 20D digital SLR.
