A turnout takes shape

The lucky guy centered in the image was destined to be the first completed turnout. Frog, guardrails and point rails were all bonded in place, and the throw rod was installed. I had even completed the linkage, visible just to the right of center.

Image specs: This is a scan of a 3x5 print taken with a 35mm camera of unknown type. The negative is long gone.
