This view of the yard always made me feel as if it was taken on a scorching hot summer afternoon; the bright haze would almost make be break out in a sweat. Sometimes an image flaw, such as overexposure or shooting into the light source, can actually add realism. In this case, the poor exposure gave the image believable atmosphere. About the only thing that really detracts in its effect is the super-thick rail.

Original imageImage specs: As the raw black and white  Polaroid print reveals, placing the pinhole over the front of the lens produces vignetting. Careful cropping and a bit of digital blending makes the "hole" go away. I also electronically tinted these images with a sepia tone to give them the appearance of photos taken a hundred years ago. Lighting was provided by a 100-watt bulb in a floodlight reflector.
