Mountaintop to go The upper reaches of the rock quarry were well out of reach from the front of the layout. Furthermore, with the scenery reaching all the way to the ceiling, the messy process of making rock molds, and coloring and weathering them, would have ruined the pale blue sky where they met. I solved this dilemma by constructing the upper third of the quarry on a separate block of stacked foam insulation. This assembly would simply be placed upon the top layer of the scenery on the layout and blended together. Image specs: This is a scan of a 4x6 color print taken with a 35mm camera of unknown type. The negative is long gone. |
