Every so often I'm lucky, and here are a few examples of serendipity. Here's something not too many people get to see: a ballast undercutter in action.

Max Headroom: Conrail Increases Clearance

Conrail ballast undercutters are seen at work in Hopewell, New Jersey, lowering the (former Reading) roadbed under the North Greenwood Avenue bridge to increase clearance, circa 1994. Originally uploaded 17 February 2008, re-uploaded 18 April 2008; 7 minutes.
